Here in the VBIL within the Computer Science Department at Smith, we are interested in different ways that we can represent complex ideas, especially in the domain of health AI. Projets range from pure bioinformatics to document engineering, all in the interest of more effectively representing complex ideas about the world around us.

Today Alina Yildirim gave an excellent presentation of her honors thesis on zoom! Her thesis is titled “Translating Across Medicine’s Translation Gap: Comparing Semantic Representations of Human and Mouse Experiments.”
Our lab gave several presentations at CCSC-NE, which was held this year here at Smith.
Four student research teams submitted abstract to Intelligent Systems in Molecular Biology, one of the major computational biology conferences, which will be held in Washington D.C. in July.
