Alina Presents Honors Thesis

Today Alina Yildirim gave an excellent presentation of her honors thesis on zoom! Her thesis is titled “Translating Across Medicine’s Translation Gap: Comparing Semantic Representations of Human and Mouse Experiments.”
Alina described her work framing cross-species metadata comparison as a retrieval problem, testing seven different combinations of methods, and testing different benchmarking standards. Part of her thesis included hand-curating a proof-of-concept set of “gold standard” mouse/human metadata pairs!
We are so proud of Alina, who conceptualized the models and how to test them on her own. Some of her work will inform an NIH grant members of the lab are currently writing.
